Lady is an elderly Black Labrador who became famous when she traveled an incredible 30 miles back to her home after she'd been surrendered at a shelter by her owners who no longer wanted to care for her.
This dog's story shows how much she's been through in her life. After her owner passed away in 2012, she was adopted by a family in Kansas who decided to replace her with a smaller, younger dog. They surrendered her to a shelter.
Lady was adopted but ended up escaping her new family's home because she wanted to live in her old home. This is when she made it across 30 miles, but her family still didn't want to take her in, so she was returned to the shelter again.
Once her story broke, animal lovers became outraged at her owners' lack of compassion. The sweet dog, who clearly never wanted to part from her family, was placed for adoption and became a member of Helen Rosburg's family.
Helen had recently lost one of her own Black Labradors, so the story touched her heart. And it turns out that Helen is also the heir of the famous Wrigley company, so Lady will definitely be pampered in her new 11,000-square-foot home with other cats and dogs.
